the dregs of fools

dallying about a shipwreck, an unlikely
arithmetic has begun.
on one side the wall flows
as if weaving a new alias that all may know.
its point-blank distorts the armature
of deeds hard-pressed to show a palimpsest
in thin air. a rendezvous of sand and other strangers,
a first-hand trick to restore the angel’s
tracks. the sea as a doctrine of changes
alarms the swelling world propelled
like a messiah blundering the attack.
now the appetite inks the self to dumb
hedgings, a somnambulist falling to land
with cumulus speech.
